On 16 October 2018 Muslims Australia – AFIC wrote to the Prime Minister expressing our opposition to the proposal to relocate the Australian Embassy to Jerusalem.

In response to that correspondence the Prime Minister reached out to us to meet with him to discuss the matter. That meeting was scheduled to take place today, Monday the 12th of November, at 2pm. Post the tragic events of last Friday in Melbourne and the subsequent comments of both the Prime Minister and the Home Affairs Minister it was our intention to raise our concerns in relation to those comments directly with the Prime Minister during this meeting.

We were advised by the Prime Minister’s office this morning that due to urgent Cabinet matters the meeting would not be going ahead. Accordingly we will be writing to the Prime Minister today to provide the feedback that we intended raising in our meeting.
