In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful. May the peace and blessings of Allah be on his final messenger Muhammad.

In accordance with the announcement of the sighting of the crescent moon by Saudi authorities and the commencement of the month of Dhul Hljjah, we would like to share the auspicious news with our Muslim community that:

Eid Al Adha 2024 will fall on

Sunday, the 16 of June 2024

The first ten days of Dhul Hijjah are days of immense blessing. These are days where righteous deeds are even more beloved to Allah and more blessed. We should all take the opportunity to increase our acts of devotion to Allah, mend our lives and support others.

Lessons from the story of Prophet Ibrahim:

Dhul Hijjah is the month of the Hajj (pilgrimage to Makkah), where pilgrims perform numerous important rites. Whether we can perform the hajj this year or not, we can attune ourselves to the lessons from these rites:

  • We experience the global sense of Muslim community
  • We observe the trust in Allah exhibited by prophet Ibrahim, his wife Hagar and his son Ismail
  • We are reminded of the deception of the devil
  • The pilgrims gather on the plain of mount Arafat (the mount of mercy) as a reminder that we will all stand before Allah on the day of judgement.

We ask Allah to accept the efforts of all our Muslim brothers and sisters during these ten days. We ask Allah to accept the pilgrimage of those attending the hajj this year and cause it to be an immensely fulfilling, transformative and elevating experience for them. We ask Allah to help those who missed the opportunity to perform the pilgrimage this year that it become accessible to them next year.

We must also not forget our brothers and sisters who are suffering. We ask Allah to be with our oppressed brothers and sisters in Sudan, Ethiopia, the sub-continent, Palestine and around the world.
