On the 4th of May 2018 the Foreign Affairs Minister announced an increase in aid provided by the Australian Government to the Rohingya minorities in Myanmar.

Muslims Australia – AFIC welcomes this announcement from the Australian Government and is pleased that Australia is recognising the humanitarian crisis that is occurring in Myanmar.

While the humanitarian crisis needs to be responded to, Muslims Australia – AFIC is concerned that not enough diplomatic pressure is being brought to bear on the Myanmar Government to cease its campaign against the Rohingya people. While this
targeting of innocent civilians by the Myanmar State continues then the humanitarian crisis will not end.

Muslims Australia – AFIC thanks the Australian Government for the announcement of the additional aid and urges it to increase the diplomatic pressure on the Myanmar authorities to stop the atrocities from occurring to begin with.
