The Australian Federation of Islamic Councils is deeply saddened at the unfortunate and tragic events that befell the Banksia Street Public School this week.

Dr Rateb Jneid, President of AFIC, said “We send our prayers and condolences to the families of the victims. We share their grief as if it were our own and extend our deep sympathy to all those impacted by this tragedy.”

We thank all the staff, good Samaritans and first responders for their courage and quick thinking that may have prevented an even more tragic outcome than what occurred. We hope and pray that all the injured children recover fully from their ordeal and that all those involved receive the counselling and support they need.

AFIC offers any and all support that is at its disposal to the children, their families and staff of the School that may help them overcome this tragedy.
