Our condolences and prayers go out to the victims of a suspected terrorist attack in Manchester overnight. Killing innocent people is a transgression against all faiths and cultures. This incident should be condemned for what it is – a crime against innocent civilians. This incident is a stark reminder of the dangers of divisions and hatred preached by some who stand to benefit from such horrific violence.

It is also important that we do not jump to conclusions over the motives and identity of the perpetrators of this heinous crime. The Manchester attack further highlights the grave necessity of choosing a different way forward. More than ever, we need to address the roots of conflict, not the symptoms. Hate and anger will not get us anywhere except to live our lives in circles of violence, terror and retaliation.
